OLON MARSEILLE, FRANCE

Acerca de

The Marseille conference was the first Our Land, Our Nature conference.  A counter-congress to the 2021 IUCN World Conservation Congress, OLON Marseille hosted 30 speakers from around the world — a complete list of speakers is included below.

OLON Marseille led to the creation of the Our Land Our Nature manifesto, developed by Indigenous and non-Indigenous activists and experts, the manifesto furthers an alternative vision of conservation, one which is already working, where Indigenous peoples control their own lands. This alternative relies on human diversity and protects and enhances biodiversity. It is anti-racist, anti-colonialist, and rooted in real social and climate justice.

Shivu Ja, Jenu Kuruba, India

Leading experts and activists from around the world explain what’s wrong with “conservation.”

Here Shivu, a Jenu Kuruba man from an Indian tiger reserve, explains that the 30% plan will cause Indigenous peoples to suffer the most and should be stopped.
